Position Summary

Rice University occasionally has temporary positions available in various departments across the campus. These positions may be either full- or part-time, and can vary in length from two weeks to several months. Pay is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and available budget.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

- Answer phones, greet visitors, and answer general inquiries.
- Open and distribute mail, as well as assist with outgoing mailings.
- Operate and assist others with the use of copiers, fax machines, printers, and other office machines.
- Perform errands around campus.
- Maintain schedules and calendars.
- Enter data on logs and databases and maintain and update databases.
- Maintain files.
- Assist with bookkeeping duties, such as preparing purchase orders, travel and expense forms, or petty cash reimbursements.
- Prepare reports.
- Process forms.
- Order office supplies and maintain inventory.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
