Position Summary

With support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Humanities Research Center’s Spatial Humanities Initiative invites graduate students in the School of Humanities who will be graduating in Spring 2018 to apply for two competitive Postgrad Project Management Fellowships. Fellows will divide their time between their own research and up to four faculty-led Spatial Humanities projects, which might entail collaborating with programmers, geographers, and librarians; learning and implementing new geo-spatial technologies; establishing workflows and ensuring deadlines are met; training and overseeing student workers; establishing and maintaining web sites; and other tasks specific to the projects. The HRC’s Director and Associate Director, as well as faculty leads and members of the library staff, will mentor and support Project Manager Fellows.

Fellowships come with a full-time salary of $50,000 and benefits eligibility.

Eligibility:
All graduate students in the School of Humanities who will be receiving the PhD in Spring 2018 and will be in residence in Houston from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. Applicants must demonstrate familiarity with mapping or modeling technologies and have excellent communication and time-management skills.
