Position Summary

The Center for Theoretical Biological Physics is actively recruiting recent quantitative science (physics, mathematics, chemistry, etc) PhD graduates for postdoctoral positions beginning in 2017-18. We are looking to fill several positions with postdoctoral candidates who are well-versed in quantitative science, but who are very interested in learning and tackling research problems in the realm of biology and medicine.

Job Duties

Job Duty Name Scientific Research
Description of Job Duty

- Identifying an issue of importance in the functioning of living systems and identifying possible mechanisms underlying the function and creating physical-science based models to investigate these mechanisms quantitatively. This will require being able to glean information and data from the biology literature, and on the other hand, being able to use analytical and computational skills to derive model results to be compared to that literature. Examples include molecular biophysics, information processing and signaling networks, self-organization at the cellular and multi-cellular scales, as well as evolution and ecological dynamics. Writing about this work in papers that can be published in leading scientific journals.
