Position Summary

The successful candidate will have a record that demonstrates progressive leadership and administrative effectiveness providing financial aid services through emphasis on individual attention to students, and a high quality service delivery model.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations and Senior Assistant Director in the Financial Aid Office this position will:
- Counsel and correspond with prospective, current, and former students on matters pertaining to financial aid;
- Provide customer service and answer student inquiries regarding financial aid;
- Provide students with accurate information regarding the application process, including federal, state, institutional and loan programs;
- Monitor and follow up on the accuracy and accounting of each student’s financial aid package;
- Perform need analysis to determine students’ eligibility for federal, state and institutional need-based aid, Federal Work Study and/or loans;
- Conduct financial aid workshops, including information sessions for prospective students and their families;
- Work directly with students to facilitate solutions and resolve complex issues regarding their financial aid package, verification, satisfactory progress, or other financial aid concerns;
- Provide information pertaining to financial aid application procedures and opportunities to prospective/admitted/deposited students, as well as one-on-one counseling of students regarding financial aid procedures and opportunities;
- Perform Return of Title IV when students completely withdraw from all their courses;
- Remain current on federal, state, and institution policies and regulations and update Policies and Procedures;
- Serve as a financial aid subject matter expert;
- Report program data to appropriate federal and state organizations;
- Team with other departments to manage and reconcile financial aid programs.

- Experience administering loan programs, as well as reconciliation and monitoring funds related to all programs.

Skills Preferred

Knowledge of Banner operating systems; familiarity with state and federal loans.

Internal / External Contacts

Work with internal constituents including Cashier’s, Registrar’s, Research Accounting, Admissions, Jones School, Graduate Office, Enrollment Management, Accounting, and Operations Center.

External constituents include students, prospective students, and their families. As well as the Department of Education and professional communities (TASFAA, NASFAA, COFHE, and College Board).

Physical Demands

Work prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and in front of a computer, (up to 8 hours a day).

Working Conditions

Must be able and willing to work extended hours and weekends during peak processing (December, February-May and July). Work in fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions to work flow; interaction with a diverse group of people, occasional overnight travel for training or meetings during the year.
