Position Summary

The Business Systems Analyst provides technical support to the department of Facilities Engineering and Planning (FE&P) by providing application administration services for the Facilities Management System, FAMIS, and other IT support tasks. S/he plans technical departmental initiatives; manages small and large projects, assist in building the road map for FE&P’s technological growth, and completes other information technology duties as assigned. This position will be located in FE&P but is a member of IT organization and active participant in the IT organization/department.

Experience Required 5 years

- Related experience working in a complex computing environment with increasing technical responsibilities, including application administration of an enterprise class system (configuration, applying application patches, and system upgrades).
- Experience with writing and/or troubleshooting SQL scripts to help research data questions in the department’s various application databases.
- Experience working with ETL tools such as Talend.
- Experience troubleshooting user issues with IT systems and working with the vendors/IT to log, track, and resolve the issues.
- Experience managing relationships with key IT vendors.

Experience Preferred

- Experience administering a Facilities Maintenance Management System.
- Experience providing mobile device and tablet application support.
- Experience working with .xml or JSON data extracts.
- Experience with FAMIS Cloud and Project Center (Project Management Tool) .
- Knowledge of the business processes of a facilities management organization in higher education.
- Experience with Tableau.
- Experience in discussing security/firewall requirements.

Internal / External Contacts

This position supports all levels of employees in FE&P. The selected candidate will work with a data analyst on operational day-to-day tasks, such as reporting, view requests, and troubleshooting. This position will also be interacting with external technical support.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift PC or printer up to 25 lbs.

Working Conditions

On Call 24×7. Normal conditions are 8-5 M-F. Occasionally requires weekend or evening duties for system changes, critical problem resolution, and end of year close.

- Liaison with FE&P’s external systems integrator and/or OIT to ensure proper design and processing of interfaces from FE&P systems to each other and to/from Rice administrative systems.
- Lead the efforts in maximizing the full potential of FAMIS Cloud and Project Center.
- Review FAMIS software updates and trends including the cloud solution.
