Position Summary

The Hilton lab at Rice University is seeking talented and highly motivated postdoctoral scholars to join our team. Our research is focused on the creative design and application of synthetic biology tools to address critical scientific needs facing biotechnology and cellular engineering. Efforts in the lab span three inter-related areas: i) synthetically manipulating the human epigenome and transcriptome with high precision, ii) engineering transcriptional networks to predictably control human cells, and iii) decoding fundamental principles of gene regulation in human health and disease. We employ functional genomics, genome and epigenome engineering, and other emerging synthetic biology technologies to achieve these research objectives. We are particularly interested in uncovering, and ultimately controlling, the cellular processes that underlie the onset, progression, and disruption of human cancers.

Ideal postdoctoral candidates will be enthusiastic, creative, and hard-working. Candidates must also be able to work with independence and effectively troubleshoot experiments. Applicants should also have an outstanding track-record of academic successes as demonstrated by authorship on peer-reviewed publications.

- Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis and sample preparation (such as ChIP/RNA/ATAC-seq) is highly preferred.
- Experience with standard molecular biology skills including molecular cloning, mammalian cell tissue culture, RT-QPCR, FACS, Immunoassays, and related techniques is highly preferred.

Skills Required

- Excellent communication with a focus on teamwork is required
- Strong publication record.
- Proficiency with standard graphical and organization software such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, MS Word, Powerpoint, etc.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new skills.

Skills Preferred

- Experience with molecular cloning and recombinant DNA technologies.
- Mammalian cell culture.
- Proficiency in generating and processing next-generation sequencing datasets.
- Lentiviral production and delivery.
- Experience with R, Matlab, and Python.
